چکیده
This paper presents a numerical modelling study investigating the response of stainless steel two-dimensional frame assemblies at elevated temperature that has not been subject detailed investigation to date. Finite elements models which capture combined effects material degradation with and interaction between individual are developed validated. The effect key behavioural parameters including type, i.e. sway non-sway, degree utilisation, grade heating profile is investigated through an extensive parametric modelling. A new set performance criteria in terms limiting deflection rate for non-sway frames fire established verified.

Numerical simulation of transient temperature and residual stresses in friction stir welding of 304L stainless steel
Three-dimensional nonlinear thermal and thermo-mechanical numerical simulations are conducted for the friction stir welding (FSW) of 304L stainless steel. The finite element analysis code—WELDSIM, developed by the authors specifically for welding simulation, was used. Two welding cases with tool rotational speeds of 300 and 500 rpm are analyzed. The objective is to study the variation of transi...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of High Temperature Corrosion Processes in Mn, Cr, Si, Al – Alloyed Steel Samples
The grain boundary oxidation mechanism in hot rolled steel samples during cooling from 500 °C – 800 °C down to room temperature was mathematically modeled. Given a fixed temperature ramp, the migration of the atomic species (iron, oxygen and the alloying elements) has been calculated with the parabolic rate equation for diffusion. After each small time step, the data was transferred into the da...
متن کاملPREDICTION OF HOT DEFORMATION BEHAVIOUR OF A PH STAINLESS STEEL AT HIGH STRAIN RATES
In this study the hot deformation behaviour of a precipitation hardened (PH) stainless steel at high strain rates has been predicted through hot compression testing. Stress-strain curves were obtained for a range of strain rates from 10-3 to 10+1 S-1 and temperatures from 850 to 1150°C. Results obtained by microstructure and stress-strain curves show that at low temperatures and high strain rat...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Cyclic Behavior of Beam-To-Column Bolted Connections in Steel Frames
This article considers the seismic behavior of beam-to-column joints in steel frames for different bolt arrangements by using of finite element modeling. As the most important beam-to-column joint type, the beam-to-column joints with end-plate is chosen for the analysis. Four different specimens have been analyzed. These models had some differences such as bolt arrangement and the presence or a...
متن کاملShock temperature of stainless steel and a high pressure — high temperature constraint on thermal diffusivity of Al 2 O 3
Time dependent shock temperatures were measured for stainless steel (SS) films in contact with transparent anvils. The anvil/window material was the same as the driver material so that there would be symmetric heat flow from the sample. Inferred Hugoniot temperatures, Th, of 5800-7500K at 232-321GPa are consistent with previous measurements in SS. Temperatures at the fihn-anvil interface (T,), ...
